Yesterday we got the news that Baby E. would be going home with her new family...today!
Baby E.'s new momma, Felicity, came by to spend the whole day at Baby Haven, learning E.'s schedule, how to feed her, how to clean the bottles, and anything else a new mother can learn in one day. It felt so very strange for me (this ignorant 22 year-old!) to be training a woman in how to care for her baby.
But it was the most beautiful thing in the world to watch as, over the course of the day, Felicity really became E.'s mother...and not just another person helping to take care of her. By the evening, she was glowing with confidence and joy as E. would gaze at her transfixed. How glorious was the change in Felicity's eyes, in her voice, in her touch, as the time grew nearer to when she and her husband would be driving home with their very own precious daughter...
Oh, how happy the day a baby is taken home in the arms of love!
