Beautiful - Sparrow Village

It has been so much fun to be back with the teenage girls at Sparrow! It made a huge difference that, as a volunteer, I have come back to Sparrow for another extended period of time. I'm thankfully now a consistent face in their lives; as such, they've started letting me into their world more and more.

Now, at long last, they are bubbly, talkative, open, and absolutely full of questions. After our first Ice Angels meeting last week, a handful of girls stuck around for an hour afterward asking question after question: "So who created God?"; "How come we can't see Him?"; "What about people who've never heard about God?" It's an amazing thing to hear their thoughts and to watch them work out their faith in this formative season of life.

Tonight we celebrated Valentine's Day. It was a message about beauty -- real beauty. We talked about Psalm 139:13-16...that God made each of us specifically, that He made us wonderfully, and that He made us beautiful (Ecclestiastes 3:11). I gave each girl a rose and a heart to put in her locker, reminding her that she is beautiful.

Their smiles were absolutely radiant as they left tonight. What a gift it is to see God at work in these girls!
